The Cross-Realm Podcast #5 - The Lighthouse Project!

"Standing in wonder, the scholars and the magi gathered around and laid a grand summoning before the masses.  There they stood, peasants and nobility as one, in awe of the spectacular sight before them.  A manifestation of wonderment...behold...the teachings..."  ~Profitz

Friends and fellow members of Azeroth, I wanted to take a moment to welcome you to the first of The Lighthouse Project segments (a segment that will be on my podcast leading people through the basics of gold making from the beginning to more advanced topics in a progressive format) on The Cross-Realm with podcast # 5!

The Lighthouse Project - Segment 1
This segment covers the fundamental basics of starting in ONE market (83-84 MOP greens), setting up Auctioneer group(s) to buy in that market, configuration of TSM for category/group(s) to support posting in that market, and general information/tips along the way.

In this first segment, I brought on a life-long friend named Cynful.  Her starting gold will be tracked along the way.  She's starting with 1,561 gold.  It should be noted that she has zero knowledge of gold making and is walked through the first steps.  I'll leave the rest to your listening ears.

I'm honored and pleased to already be on my 5th podcast.  Time flies by so fast and even though it's still in its infancy, the best thing is, I'm having fun and I'm sharing what I know.

I hope you enjoy this segment.

  2. I very much like blog/podcast so far.
One request - I use Microsoft Outlook as my RSS reader to notify me of new posts for all the blogs/podcasts I consume.
Do you have a standard RSS feed enabled for your site? Maybe I am just missing this but I can't find a standard XML RSS feed link?
    Many thanks! :)

    1. Robert - thanks for the comment. On the right side column at the bottom there is an Atom feed you can sub too. I'll add the RSS feed at the top later today.

  3. Great podcast as usual. One thing would be that it sounds like you are in a cave!!

    1. Bostfrolt, thanks for taking the time to comment. I wasn't in my studio so was using a gaming headset and upstairs. So some of the background noise might have contributed. Overall, very clean though. I like how it came out. Best well friend.

  4. I think it's interesting that you chose to first show your friend a market that you dabble in as well! Should be interesting to see who beats the other out!

    1. Phats, indeed! I'm training my own competition on my own realm in my own guild! :) But the way I see it, there is plenty of markets to go around and the timing and posting of items will always vary. I have no issues with teaching people just like I've been taught. I'm hoping it really works for Cynful and she makes a nice pile of gold before the next segment. :)

  5. No offense, but this entire podcast should be 10 minutes, not 90. This is insanely slowly paced. Do you really need to tell people how to click a mouse?

    1. Thanks for the comment Egoplant. Remember, the intended purpose of this was for the absolute beginner. It assumes zero knowledge of gold-making and doesn't assume the person is technically savvy in anyway (including distinguishing between left and right clicks in various addons). I'm sorry you feel it was too long and slow paced. I'll take this into consideration on the next segments. Best regards.

  6. Love your podcasts but I wonder, if it would be better to take the Lighthouse Project to Twitch so people can see what you do. I for one am a visual learner ...

    1. Thanks Martina. A couple people suggested this or making it at least a video walk-thru. I'm debating whether to go back through the first one and make a supplemental video for the first segment. I'm thinking of ways to make this possible but in a way where it wouldn't hinder the person going through TLP too. Because the training is exclusive to that person/group, I wouldn't be taking live questions via the audience in Twitch. Something to ponder for sure. I'm with you though, I'm a visual learner as well. Thanks again for the comment.

  7. I love how appreciative and excited she was about learning about this new world of gold-making. That's why we do what we do.

    1. Jim - thanks for the comment my friend! And yes, completely agree. When people discover this for the first time, it's an amazing experience that they'll remember and carry with them. Be well.

  8. Is there a way to download the cast for listening on other devices or without having to have my browser open?

    1. Hi Viriatha, thanks for responding. If you want to download the actual mp3 files you can pull them off of Archive.org ( http://archive.org/search.php?query=wowprofitz&sort=-date ). I'm also on iTunes and Stitcher. The links are in the upper RIGHT side of this page at the top. All my best and thanks for listening.

    1. Forque - thanks for taking the time to comment. The addons used in this series is Auctioneer and TradeSkillMaster. I'm not sure what you're confused about when you refer to 'this site'. What do you feel should be less confusing? Thanks for your feedback. I look forward to your response.
